It’s Black Friday today, the biggest shopping day in the USA, but also a great day for charities. In recent years, retailers have started to move their attention on this shopping day to raise good causes for charities.

While some retailers continue to slash prices and entice customers in with deals and exclusives, others have taken a different stance both in-store and on social media.

Take a look at this selection of retailers partnering with charities to raise much-needed funds for their causes.

Patagonia

Outdoor clothing company Patagonia have partnered with One Percent for the Planet since 2016. They agreed to donate 100% of their Black Friday sales to organisations dedicated to clean water, air and soil.

This campaign was led by #LoveOurPlanet and worked well as it taps into their conscience of what they stand for as a company. It also made people excited as they could make a purchase knowing that it was helping to make the world a better place.

North Face

The North Face are donating £1 for every purchase made over the Black Friday weekend in Germany, Italy and the UK. All of the donations will go to Explore fund which is designed to create greater access diversity and equality in the outdoors, helping young people across Europe realise their potential through exploration.

Lucy & Yak

Clothing company Lucy & Yak are donating 10% of all sales to Fior di Loto to help get girls into education in India. They provide education to young girls who would not normally have had the opportunity. Fior di Loto believe that “Education is the key to change; it’s the best way to reduce poverty and provide all sorts of life opportunities.”

Broken Riders

Mountain Bike company Broken Riders have offered 20% off for their customers and are also giving 10% of all of their sales to mental health charity Mind.

Cubitts

Glasses company Cubitts have created a Black Friday glasses cloth designed by Robert Montgomery. They will be available in-store and online with all proceeds going to the Royal Society for Blind Children.

Canopy & Stars

Holiday company Canopy and Stars have closed their website encouraging people to donate money to TreeSisters. Treesisters will then plant trees with the money donated over Black Friday.

Choose Love

Choose Love is a store where you can buy real gifts for refugees. They have recently opened their stores for the winter period. Over Black Friday they are going to double any purchase online and put the money towards buying more for the refugees that need it most.
