On a cold, drizzly January morning, I made my way to an old handbag factory a few minutes’ walk from Oval. After a warm welcome from hosts Rubies in the Rubble, strategist, brand consultant and Extinction Rebellion speaker Paddy Loughman spent an impressive hour taking us through the case for climate change, its effects on the planet, and what businesses can do about it. This has come at a particularly pertinent time for Lightful, as 16 hours before Paddy began speaking, we had just signed our first Environmental Policy.
My name is Vikram and I’m a Canadian ex-pat living in the UK. I was hired by Lightful in late June 2019 as a Senior User Experience (UX) Designer. My reasons for wanting to join such a company are manyfold, but primarily stem from wanting to do something that makes a difference. When I say this, I really do mean ‘difference’ in terms of making life better for all, not for fulfilling a generic company vision!
It’s #WorldMentalHealthDay tomorrow and many of us wanted to raise awareness on the importance of taking care of our mental health.
Last week we attended Third Sector’s Fundraising Week. Our Director of Development, Haydn Thomas, and Kirsty Marrins, who works with us, were on the Advisory Board and helped put the two-day programme together. We had a stand over the two days and on the Wednesday both Kirsty and Haydn delivered sessions. It was a great two days, packed full of interesting and thought-provoking keynotes, workshops, sessions and conversations. Here’s what we learnt.
