How charities tapped into April Fool’s Day
I don’t know about you, but I love seeing what organisations come up with for April Fool’s Day and whether they’ll catch me out or not. Over the years, charities have been upping their April Fool’s game and some of their stories are really convincing! Here are a few that I spotted. Were you fooled by any?
RNLI
Kudos to RNLI for this fantastic video on innovative ideas over the years that failed. Very funny!
National Trust
Did you know that the National Trust’s highly trained Canine Curators can sniff out a masterpiece and spot a fake? Impressive! Also, do you have to be a dog whisperer to get a job as a Canine Liaison Conservator? Asking for a friend…
The Bike Project
The Bike Project, which gets refugees cycling, announced that they were launching a new project – Refuskis!
Fields in Trust
To be honest, this could actually have been true! They definitely had me fooled.
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home
Since April Fool’s Day fell on Easter Sunday, Battersea announced it was now taking in bunnies too, in addition to dogs and cats. Battersea Bunnies, Dogs and Cats Home does have a nice ring to it, don’t you think?
Girlguiding
Also tapping in to the April Fool’s Day/Easter connection, Girlguiding announced their new ambassadors in this cracking tweet.
Scouts
For April Fool’s, the Scouts tried to convince us that their founder was in fact the inventor of the hashtag. #PullTheOtherLeg
Trócaire
This was very clever from the overseas development agency of the Irish Catholic Church!
SALVE International
The International Development charity, based in Uganda, announced that they were opening a new social enterprise – a dinosaur park! Roar!
